The queen is developed from larvae selected by worker bees and specially fed (royal jelly) in order to become sexually mature. Her job is to lay the eggs . She lay about 2,500 eggs per day during active seasons. The queen bee can live up to 5 years. If the queen bee dies, worker bees will develop a new queen from larvae.

Worker honey bees are all females and are produced from fertilized eggs. so they have only a mother and father. A colony of bees consists of as many as 60,000 worker bees. They do all the works. The life span of average worker bee is just five to six weeks.
•Facts about Drones (male bees)
The drones (male bees) are produced from unfertilized egg. so they have only a mother. Unlike the female worker bees, drones do not have stingers and do not defend the hive.The primary role a Drone is to mate with a virgin queen and die shortly after. Drones do not collect nectar and pollen.

-The average worker bee makes only about 1/12th teaspoon of honey in her lifetime. In other words, it takes 12 bees their entire lives to make a teaspoon of honey.
-A honey bee visits 50 to 100 flowers during one collection flight from the hive.
-A hive of bees tap 2 million flowers and flies 55,000 miles (approx. 90,000km) to make one pound (454g) of honey — travelling is equivalent of three orbits around the earth.
